8/26: James Michael Keats - Show Notes

Happy Hump-Day, Wednesday, August 26, 2020; James Michael Keats here with you and ready to put on some killer Classic ROCK to help you get through that middle-of-the-week mark here on KCast Radio.

Noon - 1pC: Apple has definitely been known to flex from time to time... actually, they tend to flex basically always... especially when it comes to architecture. Their most recent project is freggin' stunning, and it doesn't sit on land like most buildings?

  • To get you warmed up, allow me to remind you of how epic Apple architectural projects can turn out. Remember this one?

  • The iconic glass box in New York, this is the Fifth Avenue Apple Store entrance. Once inside, you go down an equally impressive staircase into the store itself.

  • For their headquarters, located in Cupertino, California, Apple pulled out all the stops and spared no expense. Apple Park, as it's officially named, also known as and often referred to as the "Starship Campus" for obvious reasons, no? I mean, it literally looks like it could lift out of the ground and fly to a centauri.

Apple has been making serious statements with their approach to retail and corporate buildings as long as they've been in existence, and this newest addition to Apple's already impressive list of crazy awesome structures actually does something completely—and fundamentally, heh—different from all the others...

  • It's just as impressive during the day, and the pathway built around the centerpiece makes it possible to get those oh-so-important selfies of the Singapore skyline along with this awesome new Apple Store.

1pC - 2pC: On this day, August 26th, some number of years ago some big stuff went down in Rock history. Check it!

  • 1987, Sonny Bono, who once said that he never voted until he was 53, announced that he was running for mayor of Palms Springs, California. He won the election in 1988 and went on to win a seat in Congress in 1996.

  • 1993, a double-sided acetate recording of The Beatles performing live at The Cavern Club in Liverpool sold for £16,550 at Christies, London, a world record price for a recording.

  • 2003, Jimi Hendrix was named the greatest guitarist in Rock history by Rolling Stone Magazine. His name appeared within a Top-10 feature alongside other legends: Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Chuck Berry, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • 2007, The Rolling Stones played the final show on their A Bigger Bang World Tour at the O2 Arena in London, England. The longest and biggest tour of their career, it became the highest grossing in Rock history—making a freggin' staggering $560 million.

2pC - 3pC: Kim Kardashian has been reported to be in Cabo San Lucas for a photoshoot where she stripped down to a slinky pink bikini to frolic alone on the beach... and I'm wondering why... I suppose she has to shake that money maker since hubby Kanye is super tied up with his music career and the making of a most fascinating bid for the US Presidency. Anyway, if you heard my set today, I'm sure I know what you came for...

  • Look, I get it, Kim Kardashian is smokin'. I've got no issue with that. I find myself getting bothered, however, when we pretend that hot social media stars walking on the beach is worth writing and posting about. Why would anyone do that?
